Assessment quality

Quality assessment is varied, fair, transparent, and supported by rubrics.

Beyond alignment, assessments themselves have quality markers. A quality course uses a sensible variety of assessment rather than betting everything on one high-stakes exam, so students have multiple chances to show what they know. Assessments are fair, measuring the intended skill without needless barriers, and transparent, so students understand how they will be judged before they begin.

Rubrics are a strong quality signal. A clear rubric makes expectations explicit, supports consistent grading, and gives students a target. Reviewing your assessments for variety, fairness, transparency, and rubric support catches problems that pure alignment checking misses.
