Use AI for accessibility groundwork

AI can help with first-pass accessibility, with a human finishing the job.

AI can do useful groundwork on accessibility. It can draft alt text for an image, suggest plain-language rewrites, produce a first-pass transcript, or summarize a dense passage. For an instructor making materials accessible, that lowers the effort of getting started.

It does not finish the job. Auto-drafted alt text and transcripts contain errors and miss context, so review and correct them, and make the structural choices, real headings, link text, and contrast, yourself. AI handles a rough first pass; your judgment makes it genuinely accessible. Used this way it complements the accessibility practices in our other training rather than replacing them.
