Check your work before you publish
Build accessibility in as you go, then confirm it with the built-in tools.
The Canvas Rich Content Editor includes an accessibility checker, the small icon in the editor toolbar, that flags common problems on a page: missing alt text, low contrast, headings used out of order, and tables without headers. Run it on each page and fix what it finds.
Some campuses add a broader tool that scans a whole course at once. Availability varies by institution, which this course does not cover, so ask your campus what is enabled. The aim is to design accessibly as you go, so the checker confirms your work rather than rescuing it.
How to do this in Canvas
Official step-by-step instructions. Each opens in a new tab so you don’t lose your place in the course.
