Reconnecting with your why
When teaching feels heavy, remembering why you came to it can refill you.
On the hard days, it is easy to lose sight of why you do this at all. The grading, the meetings, and the friction can crowd out the reason you became a teacher in the first place. Taking a moment to reconnect with that reason can refill your cup in a way that rest alone cannot.
Think back to what drew you here: a teacher who changed your life, the spark of watching something click for a student, a love of your subject you could not wait to share. Notice the small moments that still carry that meaning, the question that lit someone up, the thank-you note, the student who came back to say it mattered. Purpose does not erase the hard parts, but it gives them somewhere to belong, and it reminds you that your work matters, including on the days it does not feel like it.
