Set up automated alerts and messages

Let the LMS watch for trouble and reach out, so you do not have to track it by hand.

Blackboard can watch for trouble and reach out on its own, which is worth setting up while you build. Instructor notification settings can alert you to patterns such as a student’s infrequent activity, a low overall grade, or missed due dates, summarized on a regular schedule.

Blackboard also has Automations: rules that send a course message to a student automatically when a condition is met, such as when a posted grade falls below a score you set. Use them in both directions. A supportive message can reach a struggling student early, and a recognizing message can acknowledge a student who is doing well, all without you tracking it by hand.
