Student Preview and availability
See your course as a student, then make it visible with confidence.
Student Preview lets you enter the course as a test student and see exactly what students see, submit work, and confirm that release conditions behave as intended.
Blackboard also controls visibility: the course must be available to students, and individual items can be hidden or shown. Hidden content is invisible to students, which is handy while you build but a common source of “I cannot see it” messages if you forget. Before the term opens, walk the course in Student Preview and confirm everything meant to be visible is shown.
How to do this in Blackboard
Official step-by-step instructions. Each opens in a new tab so you don’t lose your place in the course.
Accessibility checkpoint
Walking the course as a student also surfaces accessibility and navigation problems you stop noticing as the author.
