Why Do We Need Accessibility?

Topic Progress:

The need for accessible content in higher education has been growing over the last few years.  Recent university agreements and government decisions have broadened the accessibility conversation from digital content to include content in face-to-face courses as well. In addition, recent accessibility agreement documents have made it clear that institutions must define “instructor” broadly to include “all individuals who provide any course-related instruction to … students.”  This means it is important for students to be trained in accessibility and accessible presentation.  If you are asked to provide course content to another student, you are functioning as an instructor, and you need these skills.

It is important that all content that is presented in a class is accessible to all of the students in the class.
