Other Common AT
If you have a relatively modern computer or smart phone with updated software, then you already own a very powerful set of assistive technology tools. Most computers and cell phones include the following AT:
- Screen reading capability
- Maginfication
- Voice-to-text capability
- Text size, type, and color modification
- Keyboard control
And many devices, espcially smart phones, have additional AT functionality such as:
- Video calling
- Visual alerts
- Voice control
- Suggested text
Because devices vary significantly, and changes are happening rapidly, this course does not train students in the assistive technologies available on individual devices, but as part of this course, please research one of your devices and learn to use at least one of its assistive technology options. You can find information about your device on the Internet, and these links should help you locate what you need:
- Apple products such as iPhones, Macs, Apple watches, and devices with Siri integration
- Windows 10 devices
- Amazon Echo devices
- Android devices
